After a long winter, it’s time for the fresh sounds of spring. You’ll hear these sparkling sounds in Beethoven’s Symphony no. 1, and selections by Perruchon (5 Danses Dogoriennes), Bellini (Overture to “Norma”), Gutierrez (Pavana), Ewazen (Fanfarria Castellana) and DiLorenzo (Luminosity).

It’s a breath of fresh air after a long winter – and it all begins at 2:45 p.m., as middle school mariachis - Travis’s “Los Linces” – serenade us in the lobby before the concert!

Students from Irving high schools join the full orchestra “side by side” to welcome summer with:

  • Copland’s An Outdoor Overture,
  • Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances,
  • Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances,
  • Wagner’s Overture to The Flying Dutchman,
  • and Sibelius’ Finlandia.

You’ll find yourself in places like “The Pines of Rome” (Respighi), with a “grand march” from Gounod’s “Queen of Sheba,” a Schubert symphony and Puccini intermezzo (“Manon Lescaut”). A magical opening to our season!

Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker’ was always part of the season, with colorful ballet onstage? And holidays meant singing your favorite carols with friends and family? This one is for you! They’re back! Guests, Momentum Dance Company.

Opera and ‘The Firebird’

Don't miss Stravinsky's blazing 'Firebird Suite," for a warm afternoon of music with the jolliest opera arias from Mozart and Rossini, sung by baritone Michael Pandolfo!

You'll hear the orchestra in some of your favorite overtures - to "The Magic Flute" by Mozart, and "The Barber of Seville" by Rossini, followed by three unforgettable arias sung by this nationally recognized baritone, who has performed on the Metropolitan Opera stage. They include the light-hearted Figaro aria from "The Barber of Seville," the entrance aria of Papageno in "The Magic Flute," and a teasing aria from "The Marriage of Figaro."

Add Stravinsky's spectacular "Firebird" Suite, based on Russian folk tales, and it's a magical afternoon!
