2025 Irving Youth Concerto Competition

The Richard Giangiulio Youth Concerto Competition

The NPOI and Irving Independent School District announce their 2024 Annual Richard Giangiulio Concerto Competition. The winner will receive the opportunity to play as a soloist with the NPOI and a $500 scholarship. A concerto must be chosen from the Recommended Repertoire List or have his/her choice approved by the NPOI Conductor/Music Director prior to the audition. Auditions will be scheduled after school hours.


Audition Information:

Deadline to apply is March 7, 2025.

  • Audition Date — Tuesday, April 1, 2025
  • Audition Location — MacArthur High School
  • Audition Time — TBD (after school hours)


For winner:

  • Rehearsal Date: Tuesday, May 6 (potential) — 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Rehearsal Date: Tuesday, May 13 — 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Rehearsal Date: Saturday, May 17 — 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Performance Date: Sunday, May 18, 2024 — 3:30 p.m. (2:30 p.m. sound check)

Eligibility

Contestants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Reside in Irving, TX
  • Attend an Irving school


Fees and Applications

  • Entry fee — $20
  • Application Deadline — Friday, March 7, 2025

To enter the competition, please complete and submit the application below. Your entry fee** must be mailed or delivered before the application deadline, March 7, 2025,  to:

**The competition entry fee cannot be refunded in the case of withdrawal from the contest.
